Social Media content creation is just self-promotion and an expression of narcissism for the rich and privileged who can afford to spend time and money to create it.

People who create content on Social Media usually have income from other sources. The creators have contacts in high places who can give them opportunities that are not available to others e.g. brand endorsement fees, first class travel, free stay in resorts, free products to test.

Some creators use it as a marketing tool for some of their other products e.g. authors making videos to sell their books. Some larger media corporations also produce content, but they have other larger sources of income from paid subscribers, etc.
